Maharashtra panel investigates illegal house demolition in Kalmeshwar
The Maharashtra State Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Commission has initiated an investigation into the alleged illegal demolition of a house in Kalmeshwar. The house belonged to Bhimrao Nicoze. He claims that anti-social elements used a private JCB machine to demolish his two-storey home. During a meeting at Ravi Bhavan, the commission's vice-chairman, Dharmapal Meshram, noted significant differences in the reports from the Kalmeshwar Police and the local civic body. The police suggested that the demolition was linked to a dispute involving Nicoze and a rival group. Meanwhile, the civic body claimed that the house fell due to heavy rains in November 2022. Due to these conflicting statements, Adv. Meshram has ordered a special investigation. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Anil Maske will lead the team, which will also include the Kalmeshwar Tehsildar and the Chief Officer of the local civic body. The commission has directed the authorities to file the necessary complaints and prepare a detailed report regarding the situation. Meshram had previously visited the site for an initial examination on February 22 of this year.
