Maharashtra renames Cyber Crime Centre to corporation
The Cyber Crime Control and Command Centre in Maharashtra will be renamed the Maharashtra Cyber Security Corporation. The state cabinet approved this change to allow the centre to operate under the Companies Act and expand its services. The centre, inaugurated in October 2024, handles about 7,000 calls daily related to cyber fraud. It includes a security operations centre and a training facility for police personnel, with plans to train around 1,000 officers. The new corporation will enable collaboration with other states and countries, as well as private companies, to prevent cyber fraud and generate revenue. This shift comes after requests from several states for assistance in establishing similar centres.
