Mahesh Joshi seeks High Court protection in Karnataka

Mahesh Joshi, the President of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, has filed a petition in the High Court of Karnataka. He is asking for police protection due to threats he has received from various individuals and groups. The court set a date of March 20 for the next hearing. Justice M. Nagaprasanna asked the government advocate to consult with authorities about Joshi's earlier request for protection, which was made in January. Joshi claims he has been getting ongoing threats, including harassing messages, since a cultural event that took place in December. In his petition, Joshi noted that the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) had forwarded his appeal to the State Police Chief. However, he says no action has been taken on his request for protection. The situation has raised concerns about the safety of public figures in the region.
