Maine athlete calls for change in trans-athlete policies
Cassidy Carlisle, a high school athlete from Maine, has spoken out about the state's policies on transgender athletes. She recently appeared on "Fox & Friends" to express her concerns to Governor Janet Mills. Carlisle finds the governor's stance on these policies to be "heartbreaking." In her interview, Carlisle shared how the policies affected her during her childhood. At 13, she experienced changing with a transgender student in gym class. She felt something was wrong but didn't know how to voice her concerns at that time. Now a senior, she has decided to speak up for herself and other young women. Carlisle met with U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi last month to discuss her experiences in competitive sports. She also spoke at a protest at the Maine State Capitol, where hundreds gathered against gender-inclusion policies. She urged the governor to support women in sports, stating that it is important for their future. In a recent op-ed, Carlisle expressed worry about the future of women's sports. She fears that young girls may lose confidence if they believe they cannot compete fairly. She emphasized the need to fight against these policies for the sake of future generations. As the controversy continues, the Trump administration has pressured Maine to comply with rules regarding biological males in women's sports. They face the possibility of losing federal funding if they do not act by the deadline.
