Maine girls indoor track highlights top winter athletes
The 2025 Varsity Maine All-State team for girls indoor track has been announced, showcasing some of the best athletes in the state. Athletes from Windham, Scarborough, and Bangor earned top honors this winter. Avery Bariteau, a sophomore from Fryeburg Academy, had an impressive season. She recorded the fastest 200-meter dash time in Maine this year at the Class B meet, finishing in 26.10 seconds. She also took third in the 55-meter dash at states. Shealyn Brochu, a senior from Morse, set a KVAC Class B record in the 1-mile run with a time of 5:00.81. She won the state title in this event and later finished third at New Englands. Sophia Chase, a junior from Bangor, had a standout year, winning three state titles in the 200-meter dash, 400-meter dash, and long jump. She was part of a relay team that set a state record at a national competition. Ashley Connolly from Gorham, a senior, excelled in the SMAA championships by winning multiple events. She claimed the titles in the 55-meter dash, 200-meter dash, and 400-meter dash. Laurel Driscoll, a junior from Scarborough, was a force in the 1-mile run, winning titles in both Class A and SMAA events. She secured a sixth-place finish at New Englands. Teanne Ewings, a senior from Greater Houlton Christian, continued her dominance in distance running. She won the 2-mile run at Class B states and finished second in the 1-mile run. Jacqueline Franklin from Greely, a senior, won titles in the 400-meter dash and contributed to her team’s runner-up finish in the 4×200-meter relay. Isabella Harmon, a junior from Scarborough, shined in field events by winning the high jump and pole vault state titles. Samantha Moore, a senior from Portland, had a notable season in the 800-meter run, defending her Class A title and achieving impressive times. Tayla Pelletier, a senior from Windham, won state titles in both the triple jump and 55-meter hurdles, showcasing her versatility. Alan Mosca, coach of Bangor, was named Coach of the Year for leading his team to its fourth Class A state title since 2020. The Rams performed strongly, earning points in 13 events to secure their championship win.
