Maine welcomes spring with events, concerts, and flowers
Spring is arriving with many exciting events across the region. People can enjoy outdoor concerts, festivals, flowers, and baseball as the weather begins to warm up. The Portland Sea Dogs will kick off their season on April 8-13 at Hadlock Field. They are hosting a six-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats. Tickets range from $12 to $22. Art lovers can visit the Portland Museum of Art for the annual Art in Bloom exhibit from April 9-13. This event features stunning floral installations inspired by various artwork. Admission costs between $18 and $20. For music fans, the 37th Reggae Fest takes place from April 10-13 at Sugarloaf. Attendees can enjoy live performances and DJs throughout the event, with tickets priced from $40 to $75. On April 12, Sunday River will host its annual Pond-A-Palooza. Participants will ski down a hill and attempt to skim across a pond without sinking. Registration is free, but spots are limited. Starting May 1, the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens opens its doors. Visitors can explore nearly 300 acres of beautiful gardens and see native plants and a butterfly house. Admission prices vary based on age. Kennebunk will celebrate May Day on May 3 with a parade, food trucks, and family-friendly activities. The event begins at 8 a.m. Pottery fans can join the Maine Pottery Tour on May 3-4, where local studios will open their doors for visitors to meet artists and view their work. The All Roads Music Festival in Belfast on May 16-17 features local and indie music performances, with passes starting at $35. Other upcoming events include concerts by Avril Lavigne and Vampire Weekend at various venues in late May. Finally, the Maine Whoopie Pie Festival is scheduled for June 14, celebrating the state's favorite treat with food, games, and a race.
