Majorca, a popular Spanish island, is facing heavy rain that may continue for another three weeks. The island has recently experienced unusual weather, receiving much more rain than normal. In the first nine days of March, Majorca had as much rainfall as it usually does for the entire month. With spring starting on March 20 and summer approaching, this bad weather threatens the start of Majorca's tourist season. María José Guerrero, a delegate for Aemet in the Balearics, stated that forecasts show ongoing rain patterns but also hint at some sunny days ahead. So far this month, Majorca has recorded about 68.5 liters of rain per square meter, which is nearly double the average for March. Palma Airport has seen even more rain, with 96.7 liters, compared to the usual 23 liters. The town of Llucmajor recorded three times its normal rainfall, totaling 77.4 liters. However, not every area is equally affected. Capdepera recorded 29 liters of rain, close to its typical level of 31 liters. This weather comes after emergency services in Andalucia had to evacuate locals due to rising rivers caused by Storm Laurence, leading to more than 50 incidents related to heavy rain.
