Mala Grohs returns to football after cancer treatment

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Mala Grohs returned to football this week after a long recovery from cancer. She had been out of action for four months while dealing with a serious health issue. In November 2024, Grohs, 23, was diagnosed with cancer. She expressed her surprise about this challenge but felt supported by her team and club. In December, she underwent successful neck surgery to remove a malignant tumor. After completing her recovery, Grohs returned to training in January. On March 18, she played in an important match against Lyon in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Despite Bayern losing 2-0, Grohs made a highlight save by stopping a penalty, showing she was back to her best on the field.
