Malim jetty's sewage treatment plant to finish by May

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

The government has informed the High Court of Bombay at Goa that work on the sewage treatment plant (STP) at Malim jetty will be finished by May 31, 2025. This update comes after the court asked for reasons behind the delays in commissioning the STP. Last month, an inspection team reported that stagnant water near the STP could become a breeding ground for mosquitoes. The high court requested a timeline for the STP’s completion. During the hearing, Yashaswini B, the director of fisheries, explained that the contract for the STP was canceled. She noted that there were three attempts to re-tender the work, but no responses were received. Yashaswini also mentioned that the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) will separate the refurbishment of the jetty from the STP project. This separate tender is expected to be completed by March 31, 2026, depending on finding a suitable contractor. The tender was issued on March 10, 2025.
