Mamdani confronts Cuomo, demands accountability on campaign issues

Socialist mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani visited former Governor Andrew Cuomo's home on Friday. He challenged Cuomo to answer questions and address New Yorkers' concerns. Mamdani asked, "When are you going to find your spine?" He called for more transparency and leadership. Mamdani highlighted his campaign's success, raising over $845,000 in two months. He expressed pride in his grassroots support, mentioning over 7,000 volunteers and more than 100,000 doors knocked on by his team. He is also eligible for $4.3 million in public matching funds. In contrast, Cuomo's campaign has raised $1.5 million in just 13 days, attracting over 2,800 donors. Mandani criticized Cuomo for receiving significant donations from registered Republicans, including former Trump spokesperson Anthony Scaramucci. He accused Cuomo of hypocrisy regarding his past actions related to Medicaid and funding issues. A spokesperson for Cuomo defended him, stating he has engaged in numerous interviews and received endorsements from various Democratic groups. They emphasized Cuomo’s experience and leadership during New York City's current crises. The spokesperson insisted that Cuomo is focused on real issues and actively meeting with voters to address their concerns.
