Man arrested after disturbance in Co Meath residential area
A man is in police custody after a tense situation in a residential area of County Meath, Ireland. Gardaí were called to the home in Ashbourne around 11:30 AM on Monday due to reports of criminal damage. When officers arrived, the man, who is in his 40s, had barricaded himself inside and was not cooperating. He made threats to harm himself, prompting Gardaí to activate their operational protocols. Specialist negotiators from the National Negotiators Unit were sent to the scene. After several hours of negotiation, the situation was peacefully resolved around 4:30 PM. The man was arrested and is now being held under the Criminal Justice Act at a local Garda station.
