Man arrested for beating woman, stealing car in Oakland
A man was arrested in Oakland County, Michigan, for allegedly attacking a woman and stealing her car. The incident involved the woman's 16-year-old daughter, who was with her 21-year-old boyfriend at the time. On March 2, the woman, 58, reported that her daughter's boyfriend, Joseph Matthew McDonough, violently beat her and demanded her car keys. After the assault, McDonough and the girl took the woman's credit cards and her car. The woman was seriously injured and taken to a local hospital. Local police quickly identified McDonough due to previous encounters and sent out a warning to nearby law enforcement. On March 4, police attempted to stop the stolen car, but the suspects fled. The car was later found, while the suspects eluded capture. From March 8 to 10, police linked McDonough and the girl to two other car thefts in Holly, using video evidence from local stores. Both suspects were apprehended on March 10 after a brief chase that involved assaulting an officer. The teenage girl is being held at the Oakland County Children’s Village, facing multiple charges. McDonough is in jail with a bond set at $10,000, also facing serious charges. Investigators expect to file more charges related to other thefts in the area.
