Man arrested for firing 30 rounds in Texas

A man was arrested in Ferris, Texas, after allegedly firing 30 rounds at his family's home. The incident occurred early Sunday morning during what police described as a psychotic episode. Homero Salinas, 47, called 911 claiming that people were trying to kill him and had already killed his family. When officers arrived, they discovered that Salinas had fired shots into his own home while under the influence of alcohol and cocaine. Police reported that Salinas was experiencing hallucinations and believed his family was dead. After the shooting, he left the scene but was later arrested without incident by local law enforcement. Salinas is a Mexican citizen and does not have legal immigration status in the U.S. During the incident, his family members were found hiding inside their home, unaware of the chaos unfolding outside. Thankfully, no one was injured. Authorities noted that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement had previously placed a detainer on Salinas in 2013. Ferris City Manager Brooks Williams commended the police response, highlighting their courage in preventing a possible tragedy.
