Man arrested for impersonating police in North Vancouver
RCMP officers in North Vancouver have arrested a man for allegedly impersonating a police officer. The suspect reportedly stopped a driver while using a black Ford F-150 with flashing red and white lights. On March 1, the man pulled over a driver, claiming to be a member of the North Vancouver RCMP. However, he was not wearing a police uniform and did not provide any identification. Police said the stop was not about issuing a ticket or collecting money. Three days later, the RCMP arrested the man and confiscated the truck. An officer stated that they believe the suspect may have targeted other drivers, and they are urging anyone who experienced a similar interaction to come forward. The truck used by the impersonator had a light bar on the windshield resembling those on police vehicles. Police remind the public that real officers will always have a badge and photo ID. If someone feels unsure about a traffic stop, they should trust their instincts and call 911. Anyone who thinks they might have been a victim of this impersonator is encouraged to contact North Vancouver RCMP at 604-985-1311.
