Man arrested for neglecting partner who died in Mumbai
A 34-year-old man has been arrested over a month after the death of a 55-year-old resident in Kalbadevi, Mumbai. The police charge him with causing death by negligence and theft. The incident happened on February 14. According to police reports, the older man lost consciousness while having sex with his partner. He later died, likely from a heart attack. Instead of seeking help, the accused took the man’s two mobile phones and left. The man’s body was discovered on February 16 after neighbors reported a bad smell coming from his home. Initially, police treated the case as an accidental death. After his relatives mentioned that both mobile phones were missing, the investigation deepened. Police were able to track the phones when they were turned on. They found the devices near the Kalbadevi cloth market. CCTV footage revealed the deceased had been in a relationship with the accused, who worked in the market. Upon questioning, the suspect initially denied any wrongdoing. However, he later confessed when presented with evidence including chat messages. Police believe the man could have survived if he had received medical attention in time. The police are awaiting the official cause of death report but suspect it was a heart attack. The partner has been booked under specific sections for negligence and theft.
