Man arrested for New Year’s Day shooting in Atlanta

A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on New Year’s Day at a nightclub in Atlanta. Byron Davis, 41, was arrested on Tuesday. He faces multiple charges, including malice murder and aggravated assault. The shooting happened outside the Lacura Bar and Bistro shortly after 3 a.m. Kirey Thompson, 28, was killed during the incident. The nightclub is located in the Sylvan Hills neighborhood, near major highways in Atlanta. Police say the violence began with a fight inside the bar, which escalated when some individuals were removed by a security guard. The conflict then moved outside, where shots were fired by at least three people. Two other men, including a security guard, were injured in the shooting. Thompson was taken to the hospital but later died from his injuries. Many cars in the parking lot were also damaged by gunfire. Police have not provided details about what started the fight.
