A 29-year-old man from Thalassery has been arrested for allegedly committing online sexual harassment. The suspect, identified as Mohammed Saheem, was taken into custody by the Kozhikode rural police on March 22. Police say Saheem created fake social media profiles using the photos of several women. He reportedly used a paid app to disguise his identity and contacted women under false pretenses. Some women complained that he tried to coerce them into inappropriate conversations. Investigators found that Saheem had multiple fake Instagram accounts and had downloaded several objectionable videos. These videos were allegedly recorded through deceptive methods. A police officer stated that the suspect was coordinating several accounts and engaging with different individuals at the same time. The case has been prioritized following complaints made directly to the District Police Chief, K.E. Baiju. Authorities have collected Saheem's mobile phones and social media details for cyber forensic analysis. They are also looking into his potential involvement in related crimes, including targeting minors. Saheem is currently in police custody as the investigation continues.
