Man arrested for ramming police cars in Belfast

A man has been arrested after two police cars were damaged in a chase in west Belfast. The incident happened early Saturday morning around 02:30 GMT. The police were trying to stop a black Audi A4 that did not pull over. The car was spotted driving dangerously, including going the wrong way on roads and skipping junctions. After a short pursuit, officers managed to stop the car on Upper Springfield Road. When police approached, the driver reversed into one of the police vehicles, injuring an officer. The driver then crashed into a second police car while trying to escape again. Fortunately, the officers sustained only minor injuries and continued their duties. The 50-year-old driver was arrested on several charges, including dangerous driving. He is currently in police custody. The damaged police cars are now off the road for repairs. Police are asking anyone with information or video evidence to reach out.
