Man arrested for shooting at Oakland potential witness
A man has been arrested in connection with a shooting at the home of a potential witness in a major corruption investigation in Oakland. Hermelindo Olber Ramosramos, 25, was taken into custody on Friday morning in East Oakland. He was charged a week earlier for shooting at a house and an unoccupied vehicle. The shooting incident occurred on June 9 at the home of Mario Juarez. Juarez is a political operative who might have information about a federal bribery case. Shortly after the shooting, federal authorities conducted raids related to this investigation. The raids targeted former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, her partner, and two other individuals involved in the alleged scandal. No one was injured in the shooting, but it raised concerns among local law enforcement due to Juarez's potential role as a witness. While details about Ramosramos’ involvement remain limited and some court records are sealed, authorities claim he has confessed to the shooting. A second man believed to be his driver was also arrested, but he has not been charged. The investigation into the shooting and its motives continues.
