Man arrested for smuggling 840 liquor bottles in Panchkula

Police in Panchkula arrested a 30-year-old man named Manish for smuggling liquor. He was caught on Sunday with 840 bottles hidden in his vehicle. Manish was using a route for smuggling liquor. He bought the alcohol in Chandigarh and planned to sell it in Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh. Officers from the Crime Branch received a tip-off about his activities. They set up a checkpoint at the Mansa Devi Complex to stop Manish's vehicle, a Mahindra Bolero. When they checked the vehicle, they found 70 boxes of liquor covered with a plastic sheet. Manish could not provide any license or permit for the liquor. He was charged under the Excise Act. After his arrest, he was taken to a local court, where he was ordered to be held in police custody for two days.
