Man arrested for staging fake robbery in Kerala
A man in Kerala has been arrested for staging a fake robbery to defraud his father-in-law. P.M. Rahees, 35, from Kozhikode, is accused of planning the scam with two accomplices to steal Rs4 million. Rahees filed a complaint on March 20, claiming that the money was stolen from his car while parked at a hospital. He said the cash belonged to a relative. However, police investigators reviewed CCTV footage and found evidence that pointed to a setup. The footage showed two people breaking into his car and taking a bag, but further checks revealed the scooter they used had a fake number plate. After questioning the accomplices, Sajid and Jamshid, police discovered that they were part of Rahees' plan. Sajid admitted that the stolen items were just a cardboard box and bag without money. Rahees allegedly paid them Rs90,000 for their involvement. Reports indicate that Rahees had already mismanaged the Rs4 million. The funds were meant for a Bengaluru-based company where his father-in-law works as a manager. Rahees, who runs a tyre shop and a bus service, staged the robbery to avoid facing the consequences of his financial troubles. Authorities confirmed that advanced investigation techniques were key in solving the case. A motorcycle used in the crime was seized as evidence. Rahees is facing charges for filing a false complaint, and the investigation into the money's origin is ongoing.
