Man arrested in Erode for Hyderabad jewelry theft

A man from Coimbatore has been arrested for stealing gold and cash from a jewellery shop in Hyderabad. The arrest took place early Saturday during a vehicle check on the Coimbatore-Salem National Highway. The suspect, Pugalvasan, is 38 years old and lives in Singanallur, Coimbatore. Police stopped a private bus based on a tip-off from Hyderabad police. They suspected that a thief was traveling back to Coimbatore after committing a crime. During the check, officers found that Pugalvasan had half a kilogram of gold and $18,000 in his possession. He could not provide any documents to explain where the money and gold came from. After questioning him, police confirmed that he was involved in a robbery in Hyderabad. Authorities have seized the stolen gold and cash. Pugalvasan will be handed over to the Hyderabad police, who are on their way to take custody of him.
