Man arrested in Kochi under KAAPA violations

A 28-year-old man named Sreeraj was arrested by Kochi City police on Wednesday. He had been exiled under the Kerala Anti-social Activities (Prevention) Act (KAAPA) and was wanted in about ten criminal cases. These included serious charges like attempted murder and violations of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences Act. Police caught Sreeraj at his home on Thanthonnithuruth island. According to reports, he had been hiding there despite his exile. When police tried to arrest him, he attempted to escape by jumping into the water and swimming away. However, a team from the Mulavukad police station surrounded his house and eventually managed to overpower him. His arrest came after police gathered intelligence on his location.
