Man assaulted 75-year-old pensioner, sentenced to prison
A man has been sentenced to over two years in prison for violently attacking a 75-year-old pensioner. Jason Owen, 36, pleaded guilty to causing serious injury, which occurred in January. He was sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court for grievous bodily harm. The incident took place on the Tan-y-Foel estate in Holyhead. Residents reported seeing Owen acting erratically and intoxicated. He initially banged on doors, forcing his way inside one home before being removed by the occupant's son. He later returned, but police were called, and he confronted another neighbor. Owen then approached Brendan Kenny, who was preparing to watch football. Without provocation, he pushed Mr. Kenny and punched him in the face. Witnesses described the attack as "vicious" and "ferocious," with Mr. Kenny ending up on the floor with serious injuries, including a broken nose and cheekbone. Emergency services took Mr. Kenny to the hospital, where he received treatment. He spoke about his hazy memory of the event and the emotional impact it had on him. Meanwhile, Owen expressed remorse for his actions, claiming he has struggled with alcohol and aggression. The judge condemned the attack as shameful and noted that it severely impacted Mr. Kenny's confidence. Owen's behavior was attributed to his intoxication, and he has since sought to change his life by studying the Bible.
