Man assaults woman, steals cars in Oakland County
A man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman and stealing her car and credit cards. The incident took place in Holly, Michigan. The 58-year-old woman reported that her 16-year-old daughter arrived home with her 21-year-old boyfriend, Joseph Matthew McDonough, on March 2. McDonough is accused of violently beating the woman and demanding her car keys. After the assault, he and the teenager took her car and credit cards. The woman was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Police recognized McDonough from previous contacts and began searching for the stolen car. On March 4, the car was spotted but fled during a traffic stop. From March 8 to March 10, two additional cars were stolen in the area. Security footage linked these thefts to the same suspects. On March 10, police arrested both suspects after they allegedly ran from officers and assaulted one. The 16-year-old girl is facing multiple charges, including assault and larceny, and is held at a juvenile detention center. McDonough is in jail on similar charges, with a bond set at $10,000. All three stolen cars have been recovered, and investigators expect to file more charges against the suspects and any accomplices.
