Man captures rare albino fox on dashcam in NY
A man in Upstate New York experienced a rare wildlife sighting that was captured on his inexpensive dashcam. Dan Burkholder and his wife were driving near Palenville when they spotted an albino fox running along the road. Burkholder shared the moment on his Facebook, explaining how the sighting filled them with wonder. Experts say encounters with albino foxes are extremely uncommon. Some reports suggest they happen in only one out of every hundred thousand births, while others estimate it could be as rare as one in a million. The fox’s striking white fur makes it vulnerable to predators, complicating its survival in the wild. Upstate New York is known for its diverse wildlife and beautiful scenery, with about 62% of the area covered by forests. The state features a wide variety of animals, such as deer, bears, and bald eagles. In other news, New York State currently has only 23 drive-in movie theaters left, a significant decline from the 150 that existed in the 1960s. Additionally, the Great Escape amusement park is building a new roller coaster called "The Bobcat," replacing an old ride.
