Man charged after violent shop raids in Dublin
A 27-year-old plasterer was in court after he allegedly committed violent shop robberies in Dublin. Nathan Doyle faces charges including robbery and assault from incidents that happened on Friday night. These took place at three different stores over about 50 minutes. Police described Doyle as “erratic and unhinged” because he had stopped taking his medication. They expressed concerns that he posed a danger to the public. The first robbery occurred shortly before 9 p.m. when Doyle entered a Circle K store and demanded money from a female employee. When she ran away, he punched the store manager twice, causing noticeable injuries. Doyle then drove to a Spar store in Cherrywood, where he threatened staff with a hammer and hit one employee before leaving empty-handed. Fifteen minutes later, at a Centra shop, he again brandished the hammer, forced a shopkeeper to open the cash register, and took €605. Police later found Doyle locking his car in his neighborhood. They discovered bloodstained cash and receipts in his vehicle, linking him to the crimes. During the court hearing, Doyle’s lawyer argued that he deserved bail and mentioned his mental health issues. The judge granted bail with strict conditions, including daily check-ins at the police station and a curfew. Doyle must also stay away from the stores involved and provide his phone number to authorities. He will remain in custody until he pays the bail and is expected back in court on Tuesday.
