Man chokes mother while on drugs in Cleveland Heights
Cleveland Heights police responded to a domestic violence incident early on March 13. A 31-year-old man, under the influence of methamphetamine, marijuana, and ecstasy, attacked his 64-year-old mother at their home. She heard him yelling at someone else and asked him to stop. In anger, he pushed her against a stove and then began choking her. The woman managed to escape to a bathroom, where she called the police while her son kicked the door. He threw a glass at her, causing a cut on her finger. When officers arrived, he shouted obscenities as they handcuffed him. He now faces charges of domestic violence and assault. In a separate incident on the same day, a 26-year-old woman reported her car was broken into overnight on Kenilworth Road. Her purse was stolen, and her debit cards were later used for purchases totaling $82. Police collected DNA evidence from the vehicle. Another domestic violence case occurred on March 14, when a 42-year-old woman said her husband assaulted her after they signed papers to sell their home. He lunged at her, ripping a necklace from her neck. The couple has been married for ten years and is getting a divorce. On March 17, police arrested a 30-year-old woman at the Save a Lot store for shoplifting. She attempted to leave with stolen feminine hygiene products and Dove soap. While searching her, officers found a crack pipe in her waistband. She was charged with theft and possession of drug paraphernalia.
