Man crushed by truck while sleeping in Navi Mumbai

A 45-year-old man was killed after a truck ran over him while he was sleeping. The incident took place at the APMC market in Navi Mumbai. The victim, identified as Pandurang Bapu Patil, was a laborer at the market. The accident occurred on Monday between noon and 1 PM. Patil was resting under a parked 14-wheel container truck when the driver started the vehicle without noticing him. The driver fled the scene after the incident. Police initially opened a case against an unknown person. However, they later identified and arrested the driver, 47-year-old Asgar Ali Khan from Uttar Pradesh. He was tracked down using CCTV footage and was captured around 9 PM in Mahape. Authorities charged Khan with causing death by negligence. Police stated that it is important for drivers to check their surroundings before moving their vehicles. Investigating officer Pranita Bhakare emphasized the driver’s responsibility in preventing such tragedies.
