Man died by suicide before setting Pasadena fire
A man died in Pasadena on Sunday after intentionally setting his home on fire, according to local fire officials. Firefighters discovered the man's body while battling the fire early that morning. Emergency crews responded to a report of flames at around 3:20 a.m. They arrived at the 800 block of North Shore Drive to find the house engulfed in fire. It took firefighters about 35 minutes to bring the blaze under control, with around 45 personnel on the scene. Investigators believe the man took his own life before starting the fire. The Office of the State Medical Examiner confirmed this finding. Although the fire was deliberately set, officials do not consider the man a fire-related casualty due to the circumstances of his death. Authorities are still examining how the fire began and noted that an accelerant was used. This incident marks the only fatal fire the Anne Arundel County Fire Department has responded to this year.
