Man faces court for assaulting emergency worker in Southport
A man is set to appear in court for allegedly attacking an emergency worker in Southport. This case is part of a larger investigation into violent incidents in Merseyside. Riyad Manafakhi, 18, from Belle Vale, faces two counts of possessing offensive weapons. These charges are connected to an event in Liverpool city center on August 4. His court appearance is scheduled for May 2. Joseph Cooper, 24, from Birkdale, has been charged with violent disorder related to an incident on July 30 in Southport. He will appear in court on April 15. Nicholas Mullen, 22, from Wigan, faces charges of violent disorder and assaulting an emergency worker. He is due in court on March 27. Jack Newton, 30, from Bootle, has also been charged with violent disorder from the same date. His court date is set for April 1. A 17-year-old boy from Walton, whose name cannot be released, was in court recently. He received a 12-month detention sentence for his role in burglary and violent disorder last August. Detective Inspector Paula Jones stated that the investigation is ongoing. She emphasized their commitment to identify and prosecute all individuals involved in the violent incidents. The total arrests by Merseyside Police have reached 183, with 146 charged and 122 people sentenced to a total of over 222 years in prison. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact them.
