Man fears brother is also his son due to abuse

A Las Vegas man named Logan Gifford, 26, is dealing with the aftermath of being sexually assaulted by his mother as a child. The abuse occurred from age 10 to 16, and it stopped only after he reported it to the police. His mother, Doreene Gifford, was convicted in 2015 and received an 8-20 year sentence for attempted sexual assault. Gifford has expressed concern that his 15-year-old brother might actually be his son. He believes the boy was conceived during the time of the abuse. This brother, who has some cognitive difficulties, currently lives with Gifford under temporary guardianship. Gifford has filed a paternity petition in court to determine if he is the biological father of his brother. He noted that the idea was suggested to him by a therapist when he was 17. Doreene Gifford has denied that Logan is the child's father. Logan is trying to ensure that his brother has a good quality of life despite the challenging circumstances. He believes everyone deserves a chance to live comfortably and happily. If the court finds that Logan is the father, the case will change from guardianship to custody. Meanwhile, Doreene Gifford is in jail for violating her parole conditions. She is scheduled for a hearing next month.
