A 57-year-old man named Badrolizam Kamsin has been fined $7,000 for causing injuries to five people through dangerous driving. He was driving in Boon Lay, Singapore, when he ran a red light, leading to a collision at a cross-junction in March 2024. The crash injured the driver of the other car and four passengers. Most of them only suffered bruises. On March 25, Badrolizam pleaded guilty to one charge of causing hurt by dangerous driving. As a consequence, he has been disqualified from holding or obtaining any type of driving license for 18 months. Badrolizam has a history of traffic offences, including speeding. At the time of the incident, he was an officer in the Internal Security Department, although the charge stemmed from his actions as a private citizen. A police prosecutor noted in court that, fortunately, none of the victims sustained serious injuries. In Singapore, first-time offenders for similar charges can face up to two years in prison and fines up to $10,000. Repeat offenders face heavier penalties. The Straits Times has contacted the Internal Security Department to inquire about Badrolizam's current job status.
