Man found with £1 million during traffic stop
A man was arrested and sentenced after police discovered over £1 million in cash and cocaine at his home. The investigation started when Daniel Dunne, 28, was pulled over for driving without a seatbelt on June 20, 2024. As Dunne exited his Nissan Quashqai, police noticed a small package of white powder fall from his seat. They also found £600 in cash inside the vehicle. This led officers to search Dunne’s home, where they uncovered £1,066,382 hidden in various places, including inside empty boxes of Cadbury Heroes. Dunne was sentenced to seven years in prison on March 21, 2025. He pleaded guilty to drug possession with intent to supply and possession of criminal property. The police seized the cash, which will be directed to the Home Office, and some funds will support community initiatives in Merseyside. Detective Chief Inspector Mike Dalton praised the case, noting that it began with a routine stop but revealed a much larger drug operation. He emphasized the police's commitment to tackling drug-related crime in the community. The police encourage anyone with information about drug dealing to reach out anonymously.
