Man gets probation for killing off-duty deputy in crash
A man has been sentenced to two years of probation for a crash that killed off-duty Deputy Christopher Davis in May 2024. Jack Henry Pierson, 29, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor moving violation causing death. Pierson must complete 200 hours of community service at charities that Davis supported, such as homeless shelters and drug rehabilitation facilities. He received a suspended one-year jail sentence, which he will avoid if he follows court orders. Davis, 27, died after his motorcycle collided with Pierson's SUV, which failed to stop at a stop sign. Pierson expressed remorse and apologized to Davis's family, acknowledging his responsibility for the accident.
