Man in 20s stabbed in Dublin city centre

A man was stabbed in broad daylight near a busy shopping center in Dublin this afternoon. The incident occurred on Henry Street shortly before 1 PM. The victim, in his 20s, managed to enter the nearby Ilac Centre after the attack. Blood was visible on the street and inside the shopping center after the event. The injured man was taken to Mater Hospital for treatment. His injuries are serious, but they are not life-threatening. In response to the stabbing, one shop in the center briefly closed while police sealed off the area. The shop has since reopened. A manager at the shopping center expressed concerns about safety. He called for more police presence in the area, saying crime is worsening. Sinn Fein Leader Mary Lou McDonald also spoke out, urging the government to address public safety concerns in Dublin's city center. McDonald highlighted that this stabbing occurred in the middle of the day in a shopping area. She emphasized that there is a growing problem with knife crime and that people should feel safe walking in the city. Social Democrats Councillor Daniel Ennis criticized the government for failing to respond effectively to safety issues. He mentioned that many residents and visitors do not feel secure. Ennis pointed to a lack of visible police presence in certain parts of the city. A Garda spokesperson confirmed that an investigation is underway. They are examining the scene for evidence and are working to gather more information regarding the incident.
