Man injured in New Barrackpore bicycle parking dispute
A man lost his eye in a violent dispute over bicycle parking in New Barrackpore, Kolkata, on Monday afternoon. Nandi Biswas, in his mid-40s, was hospitalized after the incident, and his family claims he lost vision in his left eye. The conflict began when Biswas protested against bicycles parked in front of his home. A group of local youths was gathered nearby after riding their bikes. An argument broke out, which quickly escalated into violence. Witnesses say Biswas was brutally attacked and was struck severely in the eye. Family members rushed to the scene and found him bleeding and in critical condition. He was taken to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital for surgery. His family believes he will permanently lose vision in that eye. Police have arrested one person so far and are searching for others involved in the attack. They are also looking into claims that Biswas's family was assaulted when they attempted to file a complaint at the police station.
