Man jailed for sexually assaulting friend's daughter
A man has been sentenced to five months in jail for sexually assaulting his friend's 15-year-old daughter. Aurelian Danciu, 46, was found guilty after a court hearing in Belfast. During visits to the girl's home, Danciu claimed he was teaching her about boundaries in her new relationship with a boy. However, he proceeded to touch her inappropriately on several occasions. The court heard that Danciu followed the girl into a room where he touched her breasts and groin area, despite her discomfort. He also followed her into her bedroom, continuing to make unwanted physical contact. After the incidents occurred in January, the girl reported Danciu to her mother. He was arrested shortly after. Danciu denied any wrongdoing, insisting he was only trying to help the girl. District Judge Anne Marshall sentenced him to five months in prison. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for seven years and is subject to a Sexual Offences Prevention Order for five years.
