Man on trial for wife's murder in Cork
A man is on trial in Cork for the murder of his wife. Regin Parithapara Rajan, 42, is charged with killing Deepa Paruthiyezhuth Dinamani, a 38-year-old accountant from India. The incident took place on July 14, 2023, at their home in Wilton, Cork. Mr. Rajan, dressed in a navy suit, pleaded not guilty to the charges. His wife had moved to Ireland shortly before her death and was the mother of a young son. Ms. Dinamani worked in finance at Alter Domus in Cork. The trial will be held at the Central Criminal Court and is expected to last up to three weeks. Prosecutor Sean Gillane, SC, mentioned there will be many witnesses. The case is overseen by Judge Siobhan Lankford with a jury of seven women and five men. Ms. Dinamani was found dead at home, and a postmortem was conducted by the Chief State Pathologist. A fundraising page successfully raised €25,000 to help repatriate her body to India for burial. A candlelight vigil was held in her memory, and she is survived by her son, parents, and brother.
