Man pleads not guilty to Perth woman's murder

A 23-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to the murder of a woman found in a South Fremantle harbour. He is Muhummad Abdur Rehman Mirza, and he is accused of killing 25-year-old Helen Jeremy Solomon Marsuk on December 1, 2022. Her body was discovered in the water three days later, on December 4, near Cape D'Orlando Drive. Today, Mr. Mirza appeared in the WA Supreme Court via video link from Casuarina Prison to enter his plea. In addition to the murder charge, Mr. Mirza admitted to interfering with Ms. Marsuk's corpse and destroying her clothing. He committed these acts in an attempt to hinder the investigation into her death. The court has scheduled a trial for the murder charge to take place in September. Mr. Mirza remains in custody and is set to appear in court again in June.
