Man pointed gun at children in Olmsted Township
On March 13, Olmsted Falls officers helped Olmsted Township police after a man reportedly pointed a gun at children. The suspect was identified as someone arrested last year for similar offenses. On March 19, a man shoplifted from a store on Columbia Road and fled in a U-Haul truck. Police warned that the suspect was considered armed and dangerous. He had outstanding warrants for drug-related charges and theft. A woman reported suspicious activity on Lakeview Drive on March 13. She claimed her ex-husband's girlfriend in Indiana tried to steal her identity. Another report on March 14 concerned a woman who said her boyfriend had assaulted her on Fernwood Drive. Later that day, a concerned woman called about children jumping into a shallow swimming hole behind Gunselmans. Officers responded to ensure their safety. There was another report of vandalism on Lewis Road on March 14, where damage was found in a restroom at East River Park. On the same day, a staff member from Riverview Pointe Care Center reported an unruly man banging on a door on Columbia Road. Police spoke to him after he said he was trying to reach his wife, who was in the facility. On March 16, multiple reports of a fire were received due to downed power lines igniting trees in a wooded area between Old Usher Road and St. James Court.
