Man pursued by deputies after seat belt violation
A man from Cumberland County is facing serious charges after leading sheriff's deputies on a high-speed chase. Marcus Alan Braddam, 32, reportedly fled from a traffic stop on Monday. He was initially stopped for not wearing a seat belt. Deputy Morgan Alvarez tried to pull Braddam over on Hwy. 70 North. However, he sped away, driving recklessly and reaching speeds of 80-85 mph. The chase put numerous workers at risk on Pomona Road. They were repairing power lines damaged by a recent storm. Braddam swerved into oncoming traffic to avoid hitting the workers or their vehicles. After fleeing into a field, he abandoned his vehicle and ran away on foot. Authorities quickly launched a search with the help of a K-9 unit. Officers later found Braddam hiding under a couch in a nearby home. He has been charged with reckless endangerment, evading arrest, and driving on a suspended license. He also has a felony warrant for missing a court appearance. Braddam is being held on a $142,500 bond and is awaiting his court appearance.
