A man has been sentenced to five years in prison for sharing obscene pictures in a WhatsApp group for school students. The sentence was handed down by additional sessions judge Neeru Kamboj. The man, Ashiq, lives in Badarpur and was also fined ₹13,000. In January 2022, he requested to join the WhatsApp group, which was meant for an online class. The teacher mistakenly added him, thinking he was a parent. After some time, Ashiq shared inappropriate images and engaged in improper conversations with the teacher. The teacher reported him, which led the school to file a complaint with the women's police station in Nuh. The police opened a case under the IT Act and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. Ashiq was arrested and has now been convicted. The court announced its decision this past Friday.
