Man sentenced to 20 years for raping minor in Chandigarh

A man named Satyam Kumar has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping a 12-year-old girl. The verdict came from a special POCSO court in Chandigarh. His accomplice received a one-year jail term for kidnapping. The case began when the girl's father reported her missing in June 2022. He told the Sector 31 police that his daughter left home without telling anyone. After searching for her, the police acted quickly and found both the girl and Kumar. The police charged Kumar under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including serious offenses related to rape and kidnapping. Kumar is originally from Bihar.
