Man sentenced to five years for assaulting girl

A man has been sentenced to five years in prison for sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl in Konaseema, Andhra Pradesh. The verdict was given by the POCSO court in Kakinada. The incident took place on May 11, 2023. The man, identified as D. Rambabu, is 50 years old. He lured the girl to his home with a promise of chocolate while her parents were out of the village. Local residents witnessed the event and quickly alerted the authorities. The Kothapeta police acted swiftly and registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012. In addition to the prison sentence, the court has also ordered Rambabu to pay a fine of ₹1,000.
