Man sets house on fire, killing daughter in Dhenkanal

In Bhubaneswar, a tragic incident occurred when a man set his house on fire after being denied money for alcohol. The man, identified as 25-year-old Babula Sahu, reportedly became angry when his wife refused to give him Rs 50 for liquor. The dispute escalated, and Babula allegedly assaulted his wife. She fled the home in fear, leaving their one-year-old daughter asleep inside. In a fit of rage, Babula used kerosene to ignite the thatched roof of their house. Neighbors tried to help and extinguish the fire but were unable to save the child. Police arrested Babula Sahu, who claimed he did not know his daughter was in the house when he set it on fire. He stated that he believed the child was safe with his parents, who had taken his three-year-old son outside. Authorities are investigating the situation further.
