Man stabbed while intervening in disturbance in Liverpool
Vincent Anderson was in Liverpool to finalize his wedding plans when he was attacked. The incident occurred on February 17, shortly after he and his fiancée, Angela, arrived at their temporary home on Wavertree Road. On that morning, Vincent was awakened by loud noises from the first floor. Curious and concerned, he went down to investigate. He saw a man dragging someone by the neck and tried to calm the situation. However, things quickly escalated. While trying to talk to the man, Vincent was suddenly attacked with two knives. Vincent was stabbed three times—once on his arm, once in the back of his head, and once in his lower back. He described being in only his boxer shorts, making it difficult to defend himself. After escaping the room, he ran to a nearby shop for help, covered in blood. Merseyside Police were called to the scene, and Vincent was taken to the hospital. He received medical treatment for his wounds, including stitches and staples. Meanwhile, the attacker, Gerry Anketell, was later arrested and charged with attempted murder. Anketell, 37, pleaded guilty to attempted murder and was remanded in custody until his sentencing, which is scheduled for April 28. Vincent, now recovering, expressed his shock at the violence he experienced. He described looking into Anketell's eyes as feeling like he was staring into "shark's black eyes."
