Man tricks women into marriage and loans

timesofindia.indiatimes.com

A man has been arrested for allegedly deceiving three women into marrying him while pretending to be a widower and an employee in the excise department. The police in Uttar Pradesh report that he convinced one woman to take out a loan of Rs 42 lakh. The main victim, Kiran, met the man, Rajan Gehlot, in 2019. He introduced himself as an excise officer and a widower with no children. Kiran married him at a temple in Varanasi in 2022, and they lived together for two years. During their marriage, Rajan persuaded her to take the large loan for a house. Kiran became suspicious after learning that Rajan was not actually an excise department employee. Following this revelation, she filed a police complaint. Investigations have also revealed that Rajan had a previous relationship with another woman named Sarita, which ended badly. Sarita had filed a complaint against him in 2016, stating that he had deceived her as well. A third woman, Neelima Singh, also accused Rajan of tricking her into marriage. The police believe he may have scammed other women in the past. The investigation is ongoing.
