Man uses altered photos to blackmail and assault girl

A 17-year-old girl faced a serious situation after a social media contact became dangerous. The girl, a Class 9 student, was studying at a beauty parlour when she met Ankit Dabhi on Instagram. Initially, their interaction seemed harmless. However, Dabhi allegedly altered her photos and used them to blackmail her. He pressured her into a relationship and sexually assaulted her twice in February 2024. Further, he reportedly raped her again on January 29, 2025, and recorded the act. The girl's ordeal came to light when the accused interrupted her engagement. Distressed, she told her parents about what happened. Her father then filed a police complaint in Morbi city. Authorities have charged Dabhi with various serious crimes, including kidnapping, stalking, and violations of laws protecting children from sexual offenses.
