Manchar doctor abduction suspect arrested after two months

Police have arrested a man involved in the kidnapping of a doctor from Manchar. The man, Praveen Ovhal, had been on the run for two months. He was captured after police received a tip about his location. The incident happened on January 4. The doctor was driving when Ovhal and an accomplice, Pawan Thorat, collided with his vehicle on purpose. After the crash, they attacked the doctor and abducted him, taking him to Nighutwadi. During the kidnapping, they threatened him and demanded a ransom of ₹ 20 lakh. They extorted ₹ 1 lakh before releasing him at Peth Ghat. The police began their investigation after the doctor reported the crime. Earlier, they arrested Thorat, but Ovhal managed to escape. Following a recent tip, police set up a trap at the Alephata ST stand and successfully arrested Ovhal. Authorities also recovered a pistol and two cartridges from him. Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh confirmed the arrest and stated that they have been pursuing Ovhal since Thorat's capture.
